We thought we'd give you insights and a head start for 2024 with 10 predictions from the ever-evolving world of Artificial Intelligence, as always, without the noise.

2023 was the year of Large Language Models like OpenAI's GPT-4 and Google's Gemini. Generative AI (“GenAI”) has become widespread. In a recent report, Investment Bank J.P. Morgan discusses a 'seminal moment in tech.' More so than the internet or the iPhone.

Venture Capital investment is pivoting rapidly from cloud and crypto to GenAI. Microsoft and OpenAI have an advantage, although it has become increasingly competitive.

China has made significant leaps in Artificial Intelligence, with a government-backed goal to become the world leader in AI by 2030. They have major companies like Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent driving AI development.

No matter where on the planet, though, this will be the first year when it's impossible to ignore AI.

It will amplify both our best and worst traits. Dumb people will get smart - I'm just joking - dumb people will get dumber, and smart people will get smarter, for now.

AI can mimic human empathy so convincingly that soon we may have bots helping us to overcome mental health issues.

Here is an example made by Georg: He customised ChatGPT to create a therapeutic guide for the world of dreams. He called it "Dr. Dream."

2024 will be a year when scammers will take full advantage of GenAI. To clone someone's voice, for example, has become stupidly simple. So tell your parents that your next phone call asking for money might not be you.

Through AI, human creators will become more productive until they reach a point where they may no longer be needed.

We have already seen telltale signs in the massive layoffs in the game industry and film post-production companies.

A new generation of creators will embrace GenAI to create content that fulfills the demand for throw-away content in Social Media. If you can imagine it, you will be able to make it.

Let's stay ahead of the curve as long as humanly possible. We'll be there with you on this journey. Godspeed.

Image creation AI tools like MidJourney and DALL-E 2 have improved massively from the beginning of 2023 to today. Video Generation tools like Runway or Pika have evolved in parallel. Their output might be comically hallucinogenic at times, but it's not hard to see where the journey is headed. Watch this space for what you can do with GenAI Video.

You will soon laugh at your laptop - the one that needs daily charging, or your phone that heats up like a boilerplate when you scroll through your Instagram too enthusiastically.

Discoveries in material science with AI tools like Google GNoME have outperformed any human research, leading to a recent discovery of 2.2 million new crystals equivalent to nearly 800 years' worth of knowledge and experimentation.

Modern technologies, from computer chips and batteries to solar panels, rely on inorganic crystals, leading to hardware that was impossible to fathom a couple of years ago.

Side note: Ex-Apple design czar Jony Ive and OpenAI's Sam Altman plan to build the 'iPhone of artificial intelligence.' The project aims to create a more natural way to interact with AI, fuelled by over $1 billion in funding from Softbank.

The healthcare system has a human flaw. Medical malpractice is expensive for hospitals. AI doctors will make sure human doctors do the right thing.

This could be the beginning of the end of the current healthcare system relying on doctors looking at medical charts.

As we gather vast data with our connected devices and wearables, AI finds patterns related to aging. Just like in material science, AI is used to discover new compounds and drugs that might reverse the aging process.

For the past 40,000 years, humans have been creating art. For the last four years, AI has assimilated the vast majority of it. AI creations are based on these original artworks.

Artists with a big enough platform, like Game of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin or comedian Sarah Silverman, argue in court that their creations have been ripped off.

This week, The New York Times sued OpenAI and Microsoft for using its stories to train generative AIs like ChatGPT.

Writers and Actors have brought Hollywood to a standstill this year. Other than demanding a bigger paycheck they warned that AI is threatening their livelihoods.

Agreements seem few and shortsighted in all of the creative industries.

We call for an overhaul of international copyright laws and an attribution system to original creators; only then will human creativity continue to thrive.

While our thought bubble is dreaming up the ins and outs of AI, many people live in war zones. Like in any other field, militaries have fully adapted to AI in their warfare.

We haven't seen an effective 'AI for peace project' yet. A diplomatic tool, perhaps. Let's put down these guns and use AI for good, for once.

AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), comparable to median human intelligence, is on our doorstep.

When it comes, it will disrupt all industries and the way we work, live, and love on a scale that no one can predict.

One out of three of us thinks it will arrive in 2024. What do you think?

AGI is likely not going to announce itself like a giant alien spaceship in the sky. That would send financial markets into complete turmoil and confuse the rest of us. It probably will just gradually become. We might not even notice it at first. We might not even care. If we would plan an alien invasion that’s how we would do it.
